Dr. Chris Hammons was one of seven advisors recognized for 20-plus years of service by the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. The organization recognized the distinguished advisors for their remarkable milestones of service and dedication to academic excellence through their work with Alpha Chi.

Lara Noah, National Executive Director of Alpha Chi, expressed her appreciation for the advisors, stating, 鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to recognize these advisors鈥 service with special pins that symbolize our heartfelt appreciation for the dedication and commitment they have shown through their work with Alpha Chi.鈥

Service pins are awarded at five-year intervals, starting at 10 years of service. After 15 years of service, gemstones are added to the pin for each additional five years of service.

This year will be Dr. Hammons鈥 last as a chapter sponsor. 鈥淎fter 25 years, I feel like it鈥檚 time to pass the torch. It鈥檚 been a real highlight of my career and great fun,鈥 said Hammons. Under Hammons鈥 leadership, the campus carillon that chimes hourly from atop the Hinton Center was gifted to the University by the Alpha Chi campus chapter. Dr. Russ Hemati, HCU Associate Professor of Philosophy, will serve as the new campus sponsor and will assist with this year鈥檚 induction ceremonies before taking over the chapter.
